Camdyn
Camdyn joined Heritage Animal Hospital in 2021 as one of our Kennel Assistants. She is currently a junior at Dundee High School. She has always been passionate about animals and has plans of working with them in the future. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, spending time with friends and family, as well as reading. Camdyn has a golden doodle named Louie and a Maltipoo named Hazel.

Chelsea
Chelsea joined Heritage Animal Hospital in 2020 as one of our Outpatient Technicians. She graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Biology, but is currently taking prerequisite courses for veterinary school. In her spare time, Chelsea enjoys dog training, reading, and spending time with her husband and daughter. Chelsea has three dogs (Trail the Alaskan Husky/Labrador Retriever mix, Maple the Border Collie and Fig the Miniature American Shepherd), two cats (Mac and Cheese) and raises Shetland Sheep.

Dr. Amanda Chrzanowski Bolyard, DVM
Dr. Amanda attended Central Michigan University for her undergraduate studies and graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Upon graduation, she launched her career at Heritage Animal Hospital, where she continues to provide dedicated care. Dr. Amanda credits her early experiences with 4-H and AKC performance events with inspiring her to become a veterinarian. She has a passion for working with responsible breeders to help preserve and improve their respective breeds through health screenings, such as OFA and PennHIP.
Outside of work, Dr. Amanda cherishes quality time with her family and takes great pride in supporting her children as they pursue various activities and sports. Her home is filled with a lively assortment of pets, including bulldogs, Spencer and Gabby, Chihuahuas, Party and Van, a terrier mix named Petunia and cats Bo, Emma, Kiki, and Tom.

Dr. Katie Swales, DVM
Dr. Katie Swales brings a wealth of experience to Heritage Animal Hospital, having worked in emergency medicine in Pennsylvania before relocating to Michigan. She completed her undergraduate degree at Penn State and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Western University of Health Sciences before completing a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at BluePearl Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center. Dr. Katie also has experience working with racing Greyhounds which has shaped her approach to high-performance animal care.
Dr. Katie’s professional interests include emergency medicine, reproduction, and she hopes to pursue her passion for sports medicine and rehabilitation in the future.
Outside of work, she enjoys reading, hiking and exhibiting her Plott Hounds in both AKC and UKC conformation and performance events. Her home is filled with a variety of animals, including five Plott Hounds, a Pomeranian, sheep, goats, a mini donkey, a leopard gecko, and a blue-tongued skink. Among them, her heart dog, Pink, accompanies her to work every day, always sporting a new collar—part of a large collection, as Dr. Katie has a penchant for hoarding fancy dog collars!

Dr. Nicole Sugai, DVM, MS, DACT
Dr. Nicole Sugai is a board-certified theriogenologist (reproductive specialist). She first joined the Heritage Animal Hospital in 2019 after earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. In 2021, Dr. Nicole embarked on a new journey, pursuing a residency in Comparative Theriogenology (Reproduction) at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, where she also earned her board certification (Diplomate of American College of Theriogenologist). She earned her Master’s of Science at Virginia Tech with a research focus on processing canine semen for cooled shipment.
Returning to Heritage Animal Hospital in 2024, Dr. Nicole is proud to be Michigan’s first and only board-certified small animal focused theriogenologist in private practice. Her passion for animal reproduction drives her work with responsible breeders, helping ensure the health and success of future generations through advanced reproductive services and health testing.
Part of a dog show family and a breeder of Standard Poodles for many years, Dr. Nicole brings her personal experience into her veterinary practice. Outside of the clinic, you will likely find her at dog shows exhibiting her Standard Poodles. She also enjoys going to music concerts and watching football and soccer. She shares her home with two beloved dogs: Rory, her Standard Poodle, and Parker, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Dr. Judy Duderstadt, DVM
Dr. Judy Duderstadt is a dedicated veterinarian with a passion for providing comprehensive care to her patients. She earned her undergraduate degree from Wayne State University and went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Michigan State University. Dr. Judy’s professional interests include dentistry, preventative care, chronic disease management, and general medicine, making her a well-rounded practitioner.
Certified as both a Cat Friendly Veterinarian and Fear Free Professional, Dr. Judy is committed to reducing stress and promoting positive experiences for her feline and canine patients alike.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Judy enjoys traveling, snorkeling, exploring craft beer, and collecting exotic house plants. She shares her home with her two Staffordshire Terrier mixes, Demi and Luna, and her two Siamese mix cats, Miso and Mochi.

Dr. Amber Waun Smith, DVM
Dr. Amber Smith has been a valued member of the Heritage Animal Hospital team since 2013, following her graduation from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. While she enjoys many aspects of veterinary medicine, surgery is her greatest passion, with a special focus on orthopedics. Dr. Amber has extensive training and experience in ACL/Cruciate repair using the TPLO technique and is also skilled in laparoscopic surgery. Additionally, she has a growing interest in regenerative medicine, including stem cell therapy, PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatments, and Ozone therapy.
Dr. Amber loves working at Heritage Animal Hospital, which she describes as her “family away from home.” Outside of work, she cherishes time with her own family, which includes her dogs Emmett, a Puggle, Gus, a Bulldog, Kevin, a Pug, and her cats Wesson and Houdini. An avid camper and fisherwoman, Dr. Amber also enjoys playing with her kids, crafting, and watching sports in her free time.

Dr. Christine Jennings Abbinante, DVM
Dr. Christine Abbinante joined Heritage Animal Hospital in 2015. A graduate of Michigan State University, she brings a wealth of expertise to the clinic with special interests in surgery, endoscopy, diagnostic imaging, and acupuncture. Dr. Christine is passionate about providing high-quality care and utilizing advanced techniques to ensure the well-being of her patients.
At home, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her two dogs, Mia and Mila, and three cats, Cannoli, Franklin, and Luna. In her free time, Dr. Christine loves reading, being outdoors, and cherishing moments with family. She often vacations on Michigan’s west side and enjoys visiting family in Chicago.

Dr. Meghan Tanner
Dr. Meghan Tanner completed both her undergraduate and veterinary education at Michigan State University, graduating with her veterinary degree in 2010. Her professional interests include general medicine and dentistry.
Dr. Meghan values the positive work culture at Heritage Animal Hospital and enjoys collaborating with her colleagues. She is passionate about Michigan State sports and hails from Monroe. In her community, Dr. Meghan is actively involved in various service projects, serving as a board member for the Woof Lodge (home of Project Second Chance Monroe) and as secretary for the Rotary Club.
Outside of work, Dr. Meghan enjoys spending time with her family and her pets, including a lively standard poodle named Zorro and a cat named Kiki. She also loves being a soccer mom and finds joy in reading during her spare time.

Dr. Shayne Wireman, DVM
Dr. Shayne Wireman attended Eastern Michigan University for his undergraduate studies, where he also wrestled and worked as an assistant at Heritage Animal Hospital. He then pursued veterinary school at Michigan State University, graduating and joining the team at Heritage Animal Hospital as a veterinarian in 2021.
Dr. Shayne’s interests in veterinary medicine have evolved over time, including dermatology, reproduction, and health testing. He is skilled in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgical procedures and is currently focusing on orthopedics. He has experience in ACL/Cruciate repair using the OrthoSta procedure and the correction of patellar luxation.
Outside of work, Dr. Shayne enjoys artisan coffee, running, traveling, listening to country music, and attending concerts. He shares his home with his Aussiedoodle, Brooks, a French Bulldog named Benson, a rescue Boxer named Marti, and two sugar gliders, Whitley and McGraw.

Dr. DJ Morin
Dr. DJ grew up in Dearborn Heights and attended Wayne State University and University of Michigan-Dearborn for his undergraduate studies. He graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021 and joined Heritage Animal Hospital in August 2021. Dr. DJ has many interests including general medicine and surgery, dentistry, ultrasound and imaging. He also holds a special place for the equine world and equine medicine. He is a member of the AVMA and MVMA. Outside of work, Dr. DJ enjoy many hobbies such as riding (horseback and bike), fishing, sporting clays, running, playing hockey, and homebrewing. He is also a dedicated volunteer at Therapeutic Riding, Inc. in Ann Arbor. He loves spending time with family and friends as well as his three dogs, Wiley, Hank and Zeke, and cat named Ralphie.

Dr. Katie Morrison,DVM
Dr. Katie Morrison is originally from North Carolina, where she was immersed in veterinary medicine from a young age, as both her parents are also veterinarians. She pursued her undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech before earning her veterinary degree through Ross University, complemented by clinical training at Colorado State University.
Dr. Katie’s professional interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and endoscopy. She is a passionate advocate for feline care, spearheading our team’s efforts to excel at Cat Friendly Certification while establishing comprehensive feline care protocols for our veterinary team.
Outside of her veterinary pursuits, Dr. Katie enjoys reading and traveling. She cherishes her visits to North Carolina to reconnect with family and is also a devoted fan of Taylor Swift. She shares her life with her husband, along with their dogs Nellie and Clara, and their cats Burnadette and Francine.

Dr. Brooke Baima, DVM
Dr. Brooke Baima, a native of Indiana, pursued her undergraduate education at Anderson University before earning her veterinary degree from Purdue University. Following her graduation in 2022, she joined the team at Heritage Animal Hospital as a veterinarian.
Dr. Brooke’s professional passions include reproduction, soft tissue surgery, and endoscopy, where she continues to expand her expertise. In her personal life, she enjoys a range of outdoor pursuits, from running to kayaking, and proudly completed her first half marathon this year. Dr. Brooke also treasures her visits to Indiana to reconnect with family and relishes spending time with her two beloved Husky mixes, Kai and Arlo.

Shan
Shan is the Practice Manager here at Heritage Animal Hospital. Shan joined the practice in 2006 when Dr. Earl and his wife opened the doors to the practice. Shan is known as the “feline whisperer” around the practice. In her spare time, Shan runs a cat sanctuary, enjoys gardening, and helps run her family’s business.

Rachel
Rachel joined Heritage Animal Hospital in 2015. Rachel has been working with dogs for 22 years. She has done everything from grooming, veterinary medicine, training, boarding, and rescue work. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys volunteering her time with a dog rescue group. Rachel has six dogs, two cats, and typically an extra foster dog or two.
